Forum 3000 – March Event – Greenline Update

Residents 3000 are pleased to invite you to our second Forum 3000 of the year, which will be held at the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street) on Thursday, 5 March 2026, at 6:00pm.

In December 2025, first stage of Melbourne’s Greenline project, the Birrarung Marr Precinct Site 1 was completed.  The river’s edge has been transformed with new boardwalks that take you out over the river, seating and a practical application of plantings using native vegetation suitable for riverside application.

We are fortunate to welcome speakers from the City of Melbourne who will explain to us what to expect in the next stage of this in this worthwhile project.  We are particularly interested to see new works commencing and to know their timing.  

In the meantime, Residents are asking what plans are in place for maintaining the first site to ensure it flourishes, especially when new plantings will need extra care as they become established.

Metro Tunnel Open – feedback and what’s next

Residents 3000 had out first meeting re the proposed Metro Tunnel Project on 2 May 2018.  Here we are 8 years later and the project is nearing full completion.  Every year of the long project Residents 3000 has been updated on progress with interesting presentations from the project builders.

We are fortunate to welcome speakers from Melbourne’s Big Build and the Cross Yarra Partnership where we can hear about the finalisation of the project, further works and some insight into daily operations, maintenance and safety measures. 

This is our first Forum 3000 event for the year to be held at the Kelvin Club on Thursday, 5 February 2026 at 6pm with 6:30pm start.

 

December 2025 End of the Year – Christmas Celebration

This is our last event for 2025.  It is time to celebrate, socialise and have some fun!  

ALERT!  Contrary to usual practice, we are meeting this time on WEDNESDAY – 3rd December NOT Thursday.  

The reason is that on Thursday 4th, (the next day) residents are invited to the Neighbourhood Policing Forum.  An event not to be missed!  Vic Police want to listen to central city residents.  See the poster below for details.  If you scan the QR Code, it will take you to the ticketing site. 

Residents 3000’s forum will be in the bar area of the Kelvin Club this year.  There will be prizes and short presentations from the donors.  You will also meet one of our new sponsors. 

This is a great opportunity to participate in a general audience discussion about events for next year.  Let your imagination blossom and throw out ideas that will make our association shine in 2026.  Your committee is listening.

Residents 3000 November 2025 Event

We are pleased to invite you to our ninth Forum 3000 of the year.

This month, one of our sponsors, John D’all Amico, Managing Director of CBD Facilities Management will speak about the nuances of managing security in a multi-storey complex. 

John’s presentation touches on the management of communal spaces in which residents and their guests move freely without the fear of clashing with petty criminal and anti-social behaviour. He aims to offer a practical and common sense overview of the issues and parameters that can be used to make built environments safer. 

We are also welcoming Hedley Gaudin, General Manager of AOCM will talk about Owners Corporation Management in general. He may be able to clarify the recent VCAT ruling that has removed the ability of Owner Corporations (OCs) to enforce their rules. The ruling means OCs can no longer enforce many of their own rules unless 75% of all owners agree (a “special resolution”).  As owners well and truly know, getting a special resolution passed in a large multi-story building is almost impossible.

AGM 2025 – Update

This is just a quick post to update our members and subscribers that at our recent AGM held on Thursday, 2 October 2025, twelve new committee members were elected.  Our committee got down to work straight away, meeting on Saturday 11th October 2025.  

There were quite a number of speakers at our AGM that told us of their ambitions for the coming 12 months.  These were discussed and other ideas were raised to ensure our members continue to be supported – informed – connected in a vibrant, interesting group of central city residents.  Each of the new committee spoke about their background and their aspirations for the association in the months ahead.

Unfortunately, we are still experiencing lack of co-operation in handing over the stolen digital assets of the association.  Particularly secretarial functions and our social media – Facebook, Instagram and X.  

If you see a modified logo and the use of our domain residents3000.org.au on Instagram, please do not add any “likes”.  This instance of Instagram is illegal and nothing published on that pirated site is authored with your committee’s authority.  We are continuing to pursue the return of these assets with post haste and will report when all is back to normal.

In the meantime, please find the list of our talented and enthusiastic 2025/26 committee who are promising a great year for members and hopefully for a large number of new members to partake in some exciting events and activities.
