Forum 3000 – April 2nd Event – Safety + FOGO

Residents 3000 are pleased to invite you to our third Forum 3000 of the year, which will be held at the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street) on Thursday, 2 April 2026, at 6:00pm.

Safety in the City

Residents 3000 welcomes Dean Robinson from the City of Melbourne to tell us what progress is being made. How is the safety officers scheme working? How effective is the enhanced CCTV camera system in catching criminals? Are we winning the graffiti war? What is the situation with rowdy motor bikes and noisy motor vehicles?

These matters are so important to the amenity of living in the city. Come along and ask questions. Regular Residents 3000 members know Dean and look forward to his interesting presentations.

FOGO is a GO-GO

The Circular Economy team from City of Melbourne will tell us about the introduction of a FOGO (Food and Garden Organic) service for high rise buildings. The team will provide information for residents and Owners Corporation committee members on how the service works, what you need to know and when to expect the service in your building.  What are the benefits of the FOGO service?  How does it compare with (say) a worm farm or other organic waste method?  How are high rise installation difficulties now being overcome?  These are a few of the questions that residents can ask of the presenters.

Looking forward to seeing our members and guests for another interesting night keeping us up-to-date with things affecting our city lives.

Registration opens from 6:00pm; and guest presentations start at 6:30pm sharp.
Drinks are available from The Kelvin Club bar; with finger food served afterwards.

This event is free for our current membership subscribers. Non-members or non-renewing members will be asked to contribute $5 towards venue costs.

Communities are living organisms that are interconnected and where wellbeing must be considered holistically for successful outcomes. Nowhere is this more evident than in the heart of the city where everything has a greater intensity, vibrancy, and dynamism.

The Salvos are in the mix for a CBD injecting room as Lord Mayor, Sally Capp, says government delays “highly damaging”

Lord Mayor Sally Capp AO says “ongoing conjecture” about where a safe injecting facility will be located in the CBD was taking a toll, as locals surrounding the Salvation Army headquarters speak out against a “ludicrous” proposal.

To support the Bourke Hill Association’s campaign against a safe injecting facility at the Salvation Army building on Bourke Street, you can add your name to the petition at change.org.

Follow-up of Police Community Sentiment Survey event with the Police Association …

The event had a very good discussion about the Victoria Police Community Sentiment Survey 2023 and a variety of other topics, but the most heated ones were again: safety, and injecting rooms. It’s very clear the CBD community is very frustrated with the current situation. The indignation was very evident.

Thank you to Victoria Police, and The Police Association Victoria for your participation, City of Melbourne, and Bourke Hill Precinct Association for your presence and collaboration.

Thank you also to all of our members, guests, and friends who attended and participated at the event.

Forum 3000 – Annual Police Community Sentiment Survey results with our local Inspector, and Q&A session with Police Association Victoria

Residents 3000 are pleased to invite you to our next Forum 3000 event, which will be held at the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street) on Thursday, 3rd August 2023, at 6:00pm.

The annual Victoria Police Community Sentiment Survey 2023 was circulated from 31st March to 7th May 2023.

Finally the results are out, and Dale Huntington, Inspector, Melbourne East Local Area Commander (Melbourne East & Southbank) has kindly offered to present those results to our community at our next Forum 3000 event.

If you live, work, or socialise in Victoria, you had your say about your safety concerns, preferences when engaging with police, and experiences of dealing with the police in your community, and had answered the sentiment survey.

Just to give you a hint, Victorian residents have told the Police their top five safety concerns:

  1. Safety in public places
  2. Safety of my property and possessions
  3. Road safety
  4. Drugs and alcohol
  5. Cybercrime or online safety

2022

  1. Safety in public places
  2. Drugs and alcohol
  3. Safety of my property and possessions
  4. Road safety
  5. Family violence

We also invited Wayne Gatt, Chief Executive Officer of The Police Association Victoria for a Q&A session with the public on how the community can better engage and support the police to oversee the current safety issues in our neighbourhood.

The registration table opens at 6:00pm, the guest presentations start at 6:30pm.
Finger food will be served at the event. Drinks available from the Kelvin Club bar.

The event is free for our current members. If your membership has lapsed you are welcome to renew at $30 per person. Non-members will be asked to contribute $5 to cover costs. New members welcome!

Membership of $30 per person is for the financial year and will cover through to the end of June next year.
