Forum 3000 – The Trivia Challenge

Residents 3000 are pleased to invite you to our fourth Forum 3000 of the year, which will be held at the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street) on Thursday, 7 May 2026, from 6:00pm.

This will be a night of challenging trivia questions to test your knowledge of Melbourne, a few clues, and some very surprising answers!  Our chief quiz master is Artur Hajda who will provide the clue and the competitive score sheets each each team.  I am told that the winning team will be rewarded!

The details of the event are:

Thursday, 7 May 2026
6:00pm for 6:30pm start
Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street), Melbourne 3000

Registration opens from 6:00pm; and guest presentations start at 6:30pm sharp.
Drinks are available from The Kelvin Club bar; with finger food served afterwards.

The event is free for our current membership subscribers. New membership subscriptions for the 2027 financial year are welcome at $35 per person.  Current members will be sent a reminder in July to renew to 30 June 2027.

Non-members or non-renewing members are asked to contribute $5 towards venue and refreshments costs.

Forum 3000 – City Greening

Residents 3000 are pleased to invite you to our eighth Forum 3000 of the year, which will be held at the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place (off Russell Street) on Thursday, 4 September 2025, from 6:00pm.

Speakers will be David Callow, Director Parks & City Greening, and Luke Flanagan, Acting Director City Projects, to discuss City of Melbourne plans for greening, linear parks, and the Greenline project. We should hear about twenty-eight new parks, green roofs, and other initiatives about growing Melbourne into Australia’s Garden City.

EastEnders – Lord Mayor, Nick Reece

EastEnders are pleased to invite you to their next meeting which will be held in the Leichardt Room at 27-29 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, on Monday 18 August 2025, at 10:00am.

While the Lord Mayor is no stranger to EastEnders, this is the first time that he will be attending in his new capacity. We know we can look forward to an informative and entertaining speech with no shortage of challenging questions from our group.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be up close and personal to our Lord Mayor and raise any matter that you would like him to discuss.

Let’s fill the room with enthusiastic EastEnders and friends committed to a safe, secure and diverse Melbourne that is welcoming to all.

  • The Council Vision and Council Plan is for consideration by City of Melbourne’s Future Melbourne Committee on Tuesday 19 August 2025.

  • The Lord Mayor has welcomed that the Federal Government has conditionally approved three high-rise towers in Queen Victoria Market’s Southern Precinct, despite concerns over heritage impacts.
  • The Lord Mayor asserts that pedestrian etiquette in Melbourne has reached new lows. He suggests that we “return order to our footpaths while also celebrating our walking economy. Stay calm. Be kind. Keep left. Or we may need the strong arm of the law to fix things”.
  • The City of Melbourne’s Community Engagement Policy is being reviewed and inputs are invited. Share your thoughts by 10 September 2025 and/or let the Lord Mayor know at EastEnders.

The City of Melbourne has issued the Draft Budget 2025-26, and Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-29, for community consultation. This is an opportunity to learn more about these important documents and to have your say by providing your feedback to the City of Melbourne by 5pm, 2 June 2025.

The $732.4 million Draft Budget 2025–26 invests in delivering essential services for our growing community, reducing our reliance on borrowing and ensuring Melbourne remains an admired, dynamic, global capital city.

Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-29

Consultation on the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-29 is now open.

The Revenue and Rating Plan is an important part of Council’s integrated planning framework. It sets out the principles that guide how Council calculates and raises the revenue required to fund its activities, and how the funding burden will be apportioned between ratepayers and other users of Council facilities and services.
