It is pleasing to see that some planning for the future of a Metro style underground network is being considered. However, looking seventeen years into the future for the single line in the 2030 proposal is rather short sighted. Having travelled on Metro’s in Paris, London and Madrid the planning of a full blown Metro system for Melbourne appears to be best way to reduce pollution, reduce car and bus use and to move vast volumes of people around the greater Melbourne.
