draft Urban Forest Precinct Plans for Carlton, South Yarra, East Melbourne & Jolimont, and the Central City have been posted online for public review and comment. Please do so by October 25. You may visit Participate Melbourne at http://participate.melbourne.vic.gov.au to access the Urban Forest Precinct Plans consultation page. All of this is rather sad in the light of the Naphthine govt’s determination to construct the East/West Link denuding Royal Park of 5,000 trees!
A thorough and responsible plan, with vision.
Should there be a community response from Residents 3000 to this? And there is also to City North Strategy plan. Comments for the latter are due 7 November 2013.
Hello John – R3000 has attended most of the sessions on Trees/Urban forests and there are more sessions to come. We have supported CoM on their strategy. Where we are dissatisfied is the state of the Carlton Gardens – its much needed uplift, replacement of heritage trees and TLC. The Flower & Garden Show seems to be the underlying reason CoM avoids “forestation” of this gem of a park.
Re. City North heritage, would you be able to draft some points for consideration at the next committee meeting?
This is not to say individuals cannot make their own comments and submissions – we encourage it!
