The Hosier Lane residents group and other interested parties are meeting this Tuesday night (11th March 2014) at the Misty Bar 3-5 Hosier Lane off Flinders Street.  Time 6:30pm.

Mariner is proposing to renovate the facade of the heritage theatre but not the interior.  Residents are concerned that the current proposed development is a typical Mariner deal where heritage rules can be over turned as a reward for maintaining his own property – The Forum.  In this instance Mariner is asking permission of the government to break the 40mt heritage height restriction for the area and produce a hotel/commercial development of 33 floors at 106mt.

Even if the development was reduced by 10 stories the concept does not take account of waste management or delivery/loading in such a busy lane way.   Pedestrian and vehicle access alone will be unfavourably impacted not to mention the existing businesses and residents.
