Hi Residents of the City of Melbourne!
Our first event for the year tackles the issues of Graffiti, Vandalism and Street Art. If you are concerned about the rising tide of mutilation of our public spaces but appreciate some of our wonderful street art come to the Kelvin Club, 6pm on Thursday 22nd May 2014. City of Melbourne are releasing their new Graffiti policy in May. Come and join the conversation and learn about what is happening concerning this important topic.
Light refreshments will be served at the event. Drinks and more substantial morsels will be available from the wonderful Kelvin bar (at your cost) before and after the event. Enjoy the ambience of this lovely old-world venue.
Residents 3000 have arranged for speakers of note representing different perspectives of the issue. There will be:
- Gordon Harrison – City of Melbourne Team Leader for Programs Engineering Services speaking about the new Graffiti policy for Melbourne;
- Luke McManus – President Hoiser Inc – Writer of the Street Art Blog; Vandalog who will talk about Hosier Lane and its organic development as a prime tourist attraction in Melbourne;
- David Russell – Street Tour operator and Professional Photographer who will take the business perspective;
- Street Artist to present the creative perspective and how it contributes to the renowned Melbourne culture (to be advised);
- Police Officer to present the legal perspective (to be advised).
You will have an opportunity to air your views at the forum. We trust there will be interesting comments and insights help us all ensure our city is a beautiful place to live now and into the future.
This is just a preliminary notice so that you note the day in your diary. We will be posting more detail shortly. We expect the event to take about 1 ½ hours or so.
