CBD RESIDENTS – Please Think Carefully About Your City

The word “discretionary” in Planning is causing us much concern. This, it seems, is the Minister for Planning’s “discretion” and with that the disappearance of transparency of process.Have we any idea of what our city will look like in the future? Will we lose our unique character? It is not that we oppose higher density living in the CBD, nor that we want “old” buildings preserved in aspic just because they are of yesteryear. We want quality,energy- efficient towers with regard for mandatory heights and setbacks, and with emphasis on streetscape that captures the character of the precinct. This will please not only those who call the CBD “home” but city workers, and visitors both local and international. Rohan Storey puts it quite well we think, though some bloggers seem to have misinterpreted his comments! Read on and think about what you want for our city… or write to us..
