  1. What c0ncerns me is that all the proposed design envisage the removal of the Victorian Verandah on Swanston Street and the destruction of a number of significant heritage aspects of what is a significant Melbourne Icon. Do the designs have then blessing of the National Trust Building committee? I would liek to see a review by a number of experts in their field including Prof Miles Lewis Architectural Historian

    • Hi Melb.City – thanks for your concerned comment with so much of Melbourne’s heritage seriously under threat. All we can say is:
1/ This is a State Govt. initiative
2/ The judging panel is made up of architects led by Victorian govt. architect Prof. Geoffrey London in accordance with Aust. Institute of Architects’ guidelines
3/ We have not seen the brief or other stakeholder submissions so cannot help in this
We suggest you address your query to either
      Lucy.Bell@dsbl.vic.gov.au or Jeremy.Gronow@mpv.vic.gov.au
Sorry to be of so little help, but it goes without saying that input from a Heritage/ Historical point of view should be highly valued.
